I injured my eye this evening and I tried to call to see if there was an eye doctor available to see me tonight.I tried calling 11 times and at one point I was placed on hold for 7 minutes before the call was disconnected. I kept trying but couldn’t reach anyone so I took a chance and came to the clinic.I tried calling one more time as I watched from outside the clinic to see if the receptionist would pick up the phone. She wasn’t with a customer but still didn’t pick up the call. I tried a few more times just to see if she’d pick up and eventually she did.This clinic needs to hire better receptionists. Y’know, the kind who actually do their jobs.Since I couldn’t reach anyone on the phone I had to find out the hard way that they didn’t have a doctor in this evening. I’m not sure why it took me 11 phone calls and an in person visit to find tat out.

Didn't listen to anything I was telling him, shamed me for being diabetic, and gave me an incorrect prescription that I only found out was wrong after buying new glasses. I had to pay for another exam (elsewhere) and now need to buy new lenses again with the correct prescription.

Dr. Rai was very positive and open to answering questions. His front desk staff were also very prompt and diligent. Went on a Monday afternoon and I was pleasantly seen at my appointment time when I expected to wait with a book. I don’t live in the area anymore, but would visit again if I’m in the neighbourhood.

Went to have a lesion on my eyelid checked out here twice. Once in March 2020 and again in summer 2021 after it came back. I was prescribed a hot compress and ointment the first time, just a hot compress the second time. I Finally went to another doctor this fall after the lesion came back again and they immediately scheduled a biopsy. turns out it’s skin cancer which has now been growing for at least 2.5 yrs so much of my eyelid will have to be removed and reconstructed. Never did the doctors here mention I should be concerned that this might be something serious and require careful monitoring or potentially skin cancer. Could have been a relatively easy treatment if I had gotten a proper diagnosis at first and now I’m looking at a scary surgery and several weeks off work / lost wages for recovery… plus anxiety that the cancer might have spread beyond my eyelid and require more extensive reconstructive surgery. Ugh. So upset and disappointed with the medical advice I got here.

I’m from out of country and was visiting Burnaby for the weekend. Saturday evening I had an issue with a right eye contact lense. I googled and found they were the only eye doctor still open at that hour. Called them and spoke to a nice helpful lady on the phone who gave me a window to slide in to be seen without a appointment. I’m terrible for remembering names but if she sees this review she might remember the MIB joke after the flash. Doctor was prompt and very informative and thorough. He managed to remove the bad contact which was a tremendous relief. Never felt rushed. Again, I don’t remember names but it was Saturday evening on 3/5/22 around 6:30pm-ish. Thank you for all that were involved.

We’ve been coming to this Eyecare Centre for a few years now and the service we get from start to finish is always top notch! Today we brought our 12 year old daughter in to get her first set of contacts. My daughter was very nervous but Jaswant was very patient with her and walked her through the process very calmly. Thank you so much Jaswant! This has been a life changing experience for her!

Love Dr. Gandham but your phone goes straight to voicemail and your voicemail msg says not to leave a voicemail so how do we book an appointment??

Amazing, easy to get appointments even as a walk-in and very nice doctor, really good time able to attend at anytime of the week.

Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill over the years. I was a patient of Dr. Rai for 15 years, (since a child), and have been going to get all my eye examinations done there. The office have recently hired newer, inexperienced receptionists, who always sound confused and are quite incompetent in their roles and responsibilities.My most recent visit involved an eye exam. When i showed up for it, I was told they were unable to take me that day, as the doctor that usually sees me, Dr Rai, was not in that day. Because he was overseeing my file for eye surgery, no other doctor could see me that day as I am his patient, and i would have to come back some time in the future. I informed them it took me over an hour to commute here, and that it was not my fault that their reception made a mistake. After arguing with the receptionist for a good 15minutes, they agreed to take me. Fast forward two weeks, I needed a referral note for eye surgery for extended health approval. The office rejected it and I was told they were not going to supply that. Again, after demanding them to speak to Dr Rai, they then provided the note.This office needs to either re-train its receptionists, or find better front of staff, otherwise I suspect more customers might transfer elsewhere. I, along with my mom are no longer customers here. Also, no notification of them transferring my files when i requested it to my new optometrist. Why wouldn't you confirm this? Anyways, this re-affirmed that it was the correct decision to leave this place.

I’ve been a long-time client of this optometrist office, and I always leave feeling great with the excellent service I receive. I come here for eye exams and contact lenses. The staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful. The eye exams are done quickly and professionally and you can feel the genuine care they provide to their clients along with wonderful service! They give honest recommendations on your eye care and are really great at checking in to see how it is working for you. I was offered a rebate on my lenses from a promotion of the lens company (that I wasn’t expecting) and the staff made sure to inform me and deduct it from my bill. Going above and beyond in these circumstances really helps clients to be able to afford eye care and takes a lot of stress off! Thanks again to the staff at Metropolis Eyecare Centre. 10/10 recommendation.
